Fasting
Strategic Periods Without Food for Metabolic Health
Fasting is deliberately going without food for extended periods, allowing your body to shift from using recently eaten food to burning stored energy. After about 12-16 hours without eating, your body depletes its glucose stores and begins burning fat more efficiently, while also triggering beneficial processes like autophagy (cellular cleanup) and increased insulin sensitivity. Intermittent fasting—cycling between eating and fasting periods—can be a powerful tool for managing diabetes, reducing insulin resistance, and promoting weight loss. Combined with a low-carb or keto diet, fasting becomes easier and more effective, as stable blood sugar means less hunger and fewer cravings during fasting periods.
